Painting and Decorating

Project Overview

The flat’s previous tenants had, for quite some time, allowed a palpable layer of neglect to settle across every surface, leaving it in dire need of more than just a surface clean. It was a space that demanded a full-scale intervention in both cleaning and redecoration. So, with sleeves rolled up, that’s precisely what we delivered.

Our deep-clean commenced with an intensive scrubbing of all walls using sugar soap, cutting through years of built-up grime and stubborn grease that had accumulated, particularly in the kitchen and living areas. Following this gruelling start, we moved to the meticulous prep work, sanding down the old, flaking paint on the window frames to create a smooth anchor for the new coat. After carefully masking all electrical sockets and light switches with painter’s tape, we tackled the heart of the job: the paint. First, a coat of fresh white for the ceiling, instantly brightening the room. Next, the walls received a soothing, light blue-grey, which transformed the atmosphere, banishing the old faded colour and making the whole space appear considerably brighter and cleaner. The final flourish involved the woodwork; we revitalized the sadly yellowed skirting boards and window frames with a crisp, satin white finish.

With the last brushstroke dried and the protective tape peeled away, the hardest work was done. A final few hours were spent simply restoring the essential furniture to its rightful place, completing the remarkable transformation from drab and grimy to fresh and inviting.
